The National Basketball Association recently announced that the NBA 3X Philippines 2012 presented by Sprite will return to Manila following the success of last year’s event.

To be held at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall from August 17-19, 2012, the NBA 3X Philippines 2012 presented by Sprite is a 3-on-3 tournament that mixes basketball and entertainment to give hoop fans a feel of the NBA experience.

The event will give participants an opportunity to showcase their skills in an NBA-like environment. There will be competition groups for boys ages 10-18, girls ages 13-17, and open divisions for men and women. Registration will run from July 14 to August 10, on a first come first serve basis.

Aside from the 3-on-3 tournament, other basketball activities like the Spire Slam Dunk contest, Sprite Skills Challenge and KFC Bucket 3-Point Shootout will also be included. Similar to the previous time, NBA and Sprite will bring in an NBA player for basketball clinics and community events, and a dance team and a mascot to keep fans entertained during the festivities.

Adding a new dimension to NBA 3X Philippines 2012 presented by Sprite will be the try-outs for the Sprite Uncontainable Game. Two lucky Philippine finalists will be selected to be part of a global pool of 24 exciting amateur ballers that will end up on either Team Sudden or Team Intense. 2012 NBA Champion Lebron James will choose for Team Sudden while NBA Superstar Kobe Bryant will pick for Team Intense. Being the brand’s largest basketball program, the Sprite Uncontainable Game will take place at the NBA All-Star 2013 in Houston, Texas.
